Automotive window controller
Automotive interiors are going through a transition period, with brands and OEMs looking to improve functionality, aesthetics and interaction methods. TG0 technology can be used to create a smart window controller that drivers and passengers can use intuitively, without visual distraction. Our patented moulded material sensors can be customised to any 3D shape by combining surface engineering, advanced signal processing and machine learning to sense touch, gesture and pressure. Controlling a car’s windows becomes as easy as pushing, pulling or tapping the controls.
New interaction modes
● Gestural commands
● Touch and force sensing
● Pressure mapping
● Capacitive sensing
TG0 technology is versatile enough to create any type of control across form factors. Window controllers are one popular use case, but our sensor-rich surfaces are suitable for any number of applications throughout the automotive industry – from door handles and steering wheels, to centre consoles and seating. By turning conventional surfaces into digital interfaces, touch, gesture and pressure can be captured through capacitive sensing using one microcontroller.
Design-led functionality
● Seamless interior surfaces with endless design opportunities
● Integrate functionalities into extreme 3D shapes
● Enhance ergonomics and accessibility
● Replace multiple mechanical controls with a single surface
● Integrate into existing decorative materials and finishes
Thanks to the reduction in electronic components, our patented material reduces noise created by friction between HMI bundles and reduces the failure rate that’s caused by individual component issues. Such simplicity means it’s also a more cost-effective solution and is often more environmentally friendly, even when moulded into extreme 3D shapes, or used to create a more premium finish. Multiple mechanical controls are replaced by a single surface, which enhances the aesthetic and ergonomic qualities.
Moulded sensors for streamlined manufacturing
● Build smarter, from prototype to product
● Rapid proof of concept
● Easy assembly with fewer components
● Lower costs using fewer sensors
By partnering with TG0’s multi-disciplinary team, concepts travel from prototype to product in a matter of weeks. The manufacturing process does not require any additional hardware and because there are no additional electronic clusters, sensor assembling and calibration can be removed from the process entirely. Electronic products also become more recyclable, given that the disassembly process only requires the unplugging of electrical connections with TG0’s sensor material technology.
